ramsons

'ramsons' is the old english name for wild garlic ~ which grows along the banks of the river irwell as it flows through ramsbottom

thus, we believe, the name ramsbottom is shortened from ramsons bottoms ~ "the valley of wild garlic"!

        ...and we are really "the wild garlic cafe"!

my pictures were actually taken where I collect ramsons for the kitchen, beside the river brock in the forest of bowland
